All lessons are age-appropriate and are shared in a family setting. All of the leaders are volunteers and must register with the National office, pass a national-level background check, and receive specific position training in order to lead.
Troop 281 and 4281 - Troop Scouts
Tuesday evening. Girls: 6:30-8 pm, Boys: 7-8:30 pm.
Follows the school schedule: if there is no school, there is no meeting.
Exception: a few meetings in early summer break to prepare for summer camp.
Our troop scouts are broken into two separate groups, one for boys and one for girls. Even though they are separate, they work on the same ranks, Merit Badges, and goals from the Scouting America curriculum. Troop scouting is for the youth between 11 and 18 years of age. These youth, unlike the Cub Scout program, are self-motivated to learn and grow in leadership and good character. They lead themselves and are only guided by adult scoutmasters and their assistants. They have more camp opportunities, share in a lifetime of experiences by earning merit badges, all the while supporting their community through stewardship and service. These youth are what embody the image of scouting that is known worldwide. All of the leaders are volunteers and must register with the National office, pass a national-level background check, and receive specific position training in order to lead.
Crew 2281 - Venture Scouts
Meeting on alternating Thursdays starting January 1st. This unit meets all year long.
Newly chartered in 2025 and stemming from the troop-level scouts. This program was established for those scouts who were looking for advanced opportunities for adventure and exploration. The Venture Scout is any registered youth between the ages of 14 and 20 years of age that have a higher affinity for adventure. In this program, the skills learned and honed at the troop level are put to the test. They are a self-led, self-governed group of both boys and girls, and have adult crew advisors to help guide them if needed. At this level, they choose the outing, the length, and map out all the details needed to complete their adventure. They are also committed to serving their community as part of their obligation to the unit. All of the advisors are volunteers and must register with the National office, pass a national-level background check, and receive specific position training in order to advise.
